10-Cactus 1549

In this famous picture, we can see a plane floating in the middle of the water, with people on its wings and on the slides that deployed from the front gates. This picture was shot right after flight Cactus 1549 landed in the Hudson river after suffering multiple bird strikes while departing La Guardia airport in NYSC. The geese lead both engines to stall and stop, making a glider out of the Airbus. Chesley Sullenburger, an experienced glider pilot, managed to successfully land the aircraft on the Hudson, making it the only fully successful water landing of an airliner.
